When we arrived the girl at the front desk recognized us, smiled and said "Oh you've had a baby!" Jessica had the good sense to smile at her. I on the other hand was a bit flustered. It's been over a year since we were members there. How did she remember us? How come other people are so much better with faces than I am? I don't remember people I shared classes with every day for 3 years at university. How am I supposed to remember a receptionist? Am I a bad person?
We go down to the pool and it was loud and crowded. (What else can you expect when they offer free swimming for all Inverclyde school kids. Which I'd find pretty darn awesome if I was a school kid! We on the other hand had to pay £8 for the privilege of spending an hour in the pool with a kajillion unsupervised pre-teens. joy.) Jessica is holding it together rather well. We start in the kiddie pool, but the other two moms there with 5 or 6 year olds don't seem to grasp the concept of giving the baby a little space. We keep moving around trying to get away and it feels like they're following us. So we head to the lazy river. As long as you're holding her close and she's not to deep she's happy enough. Not thrilled, but not to upset either. She cries once of twice but if we stand up with her she stops almost immediately. We take her into the wave pool next (while the waves are off of course.) After some singing and some tickling she's actually laughing and having fun. Before we leave we try the lazy river again and what do you know, she actually lets me pull her along in the water. We decide to leave on a high point and get out before she realizes that she just went swimming. :)
